Advaita Brahma Ashram and Tri-Centurian Languli Baba

By a Devotee

The ADVAITA Brahma Ashram was established by the tri-centurian ADVAITA Saint, the naked Sanyasi who spent around 40 - 50 years of his last yogic life in Puri. He is famously known as Sri Sri Jogeswar Digambar Paramhansa Maharaj, in short Nanga Baba Totapuri or Languli Baba.

He belonged to the Naga order and travelled across India, Brahmadesh and beyond the Himalayas on foot. He came in contact with saints like Trailang Swami, Bamkhepa, Sai Baba, Nigamananda Saraswati and Ramakrishna Paramhansa.

The Ashram stands on lush sand dunes at Girnarbant, surrounded by palm, neem, mango and casuarina forests, offering a serene spiritual atmosphere.

Baba was a master of Nirvikalpa Dhyana Yoga and Advaita Vedanta. He witnessed historical events like the Battle of Plassey (1757), Panipat (1761), and even the World Wars.

He is believed to have initiated Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa at Dakshineswar in 1864, teaching the essence of Advaita Vedanta—Brahman alone is real.

In his later years, Baba lived in isolation at Girnarbant and attained Mahasamadhi on 28th August 1961.
